Misinformation proliferates rapidly in the digital age, eroding public trust and endangering democracy. This paper examines whether improving data literacy can make citizens more discerning of false claims. It proposes educational interventions tailored for different age groups and communities to build analytical skills. Partnerships between schools, government, technology platforms, and media to propagate data literacy at scale are outlined. With comprehensive efforts, society may develop resilience against viral nonsense and restore fact-based discourse.
